(Noun) The "Vargas Girl" of the 1930s-early 1950s, after George Petty (1894-1975), American illustrator. Pin-ups. Sexy, pretty, curvaceous, long-legged - but closer to firm-breasted than big-breasted, and compared to Alberto Vargas, given more to very-tight-fitting bathing suits up to suggestive costumes than suggestive costumes up to full-frontal nudity.

Usage: Though Alberto Vargas (1896-1982) and George Petty were near-contemporaries, their career trajectories were different, and the Petty Girl is generally associated with WWII, the Vargas Girl with a generation later.
